Ava Dance Centre uses safe dance practices to ensure the necessary foundations for correct technique are built. As well as their physical wellbeing, it is central to our philosophy to nurture our students’ emotional and social growth and development.

We value the positive impact dance can have on students’ self-esteem, motivation and confidence. While we challenge our students to reach their full potential, we strongly believe in the effectiveness of positive reinforcement and encouragement to maintain enjoyment and enthusiasm.

Through dance, we promote invaluable life skills such as self-discipline, resilience, perseverance and independence. Students at our dance school are also taught how to set and achieve goals and learn the value of planning for purpose.

Our inclusive community supports and encourages each other to create a sense of belonging for all members. If you would like to be a part of the Ava Dance Centre family, contact us today or enrol now.

After spending five years teaching and dancing in Melbourne, Angela has returned to Wollongong to open her dream studio, Ava Dance Centre.

Angela started dancing at a young age studying Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. She went on to train in Ballet full-time for two years working with some of the industry’s most sought-after teachers.

Angela’s teaching journey began by studying Primary Education at the University of Wollongong. Soon after, she decided to merge her passion for teaching with her love of dance and went on to study for a further two years in Ballet Teaching Studies, obtaining her teaching qualification with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Angela is committed to improving teaching methods and dance techniques set by industry standards. She highly values the importance of continual growth and development for both students and staff. Angela is actively involved in the wider dance community to ensure that students benefit from new and innovative dance practices and trends.
